Reopening of the Musée Rodin in Meudon
Une programmation gratuite, samedi 30 et dimanche 31 mars
The museum is opening the doors of Rodin's last residence, a home where he lived and worked for over 20 years. For the artist, Meudon was everything: a place to work and experiment, an intimate retreat and a welcoming environment. Here you will discover the Villa des Brillants, the home of Auguste Rodin and Rose Beuret, the Galerie des Plâtres, a reminder of the Pavillon de l'Alma that was so successful at the 1900 Universal Exhibition, and the Atelier des Antiques, where Rodin exhibited his collection of ancient, Egyptian and medieval sculptures.
In the plaster room, a tactile space showing the stages in the creation of a sculpture allows visitors to learn about the different sculpting techniques: modelling in clay, plaster casting, stone carving and bronze casting. From sketches to monumental sculptures, this weekend will be an opportunity to discover the ingenious technical processes used in Rodin's time to reproduce, enlarge or reduce sculptures.
